Suicide: Collateral Damages

In this video, Prof. Barry L. Jackson (Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania) emphasizes the role of suicide as a leading cause of death in Western countries, but notes that, although suicide is shown to have far-reaching impact, little attention has been paid to those dealing with suicide. Briefly reviewing two models for processing grief, Dr Jackson observes that neither is highly relevant to the situation of grief reaction to a suicide; thus, he proposes the Suicide Survivor Model, which is based on inductive qualitative analysis of nearly 300 sessions over 25 years.
