General Addiction


The focus of this course is to provide a theoretical foundation of addiction, an overview of the process in diagnosing major substance use disorders and an introduction to selected treatment models. The aetiology of addiction including the characteristics of it and its prevalence in selected countries is also reviewed.



In this course, you will gain an understanding of the aetiology, the biological, social and psychological effects; diagnostic criteria including screening tools; and common interventions used in the treatment of general addictions.
